What is the REAL quality of an Avalanche snowboard?

I already have a horrible, low quality snowboard from when I first started boarding, now I want a new board. A friend is willing to sell me an Avalanche board for relatively cheap, but I've never heard of it. I tried to look up the quality but everything says it is a great board, high quality etc. But I'm just not sure if this is legit or just propaganda.HELP :)
